Obituary of Murle Martin
Mrs. Murle Mowery Martin passed away Wednesday morning, July 8, 2009 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville. She was a longtime Raleigh resident and had lived in Greenville for the past 2 years.
Funeral Service will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday in the Montlawn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Montlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
A native of Richmond County, Mrs. Martin was the daughter of the late Thomas Henry Mowery and Fannie Spencer Mowery. She worked with the North Carolina State Employment Security Commission for 36 years during which time she was an active member of the International Association of Personnel and served a term as North Carolina President. After retiring, she remained active with club activities and retirement events.
She taught ballroom dancing at Arthur Murrays and for 29 years with the Leocarta School of Dance and she was an active member of Fairmont United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Holt Martin as well as three sisters and a brother.
Mrs. Martin is survived by her daughters, Marilee M. Little and her husband Tommie of Greenville, Betsy Ross Martin of Overland Park, KS and Karen M. Taylor and her husband Stan of Kernersville; four grandchildren, Chip Little and his wife Jennifer, Lori Sneed and her husband David, Kelly Taylor and Ross Taylor; five great grandchildren, Trey and Johnson Little, Allie, Hoyle and Sam Sneed, as well as her extended family and friends.
