Obituary

MORRISVILLE

Watkins, Myrtle Paulette Pipkin, 84, passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side on December 29, 2020. Paulette was predeceased by her parents, Myrtle Constance Hayes and Paul William Pipkin, and her sisters Jean Meadows and Constance "Connie" Fendley. She is survived by her daughter, Stacie Watkins McCoy of Morrisville, NC, and several nieces and nephews.

Paulette was born on Boylan Avenue in Raleigh on September 14, 1936. She graduated from Hugh Morson High School in 1954 where she played the saxophone in the Marching Band. Marriage took her to Richmond, VA where she served as the church pianist for Highland Springs Church of the Nazarene. Paulette retired from the Medical College of Virginia Hospital in 2001 after 22 years of service. In 2005 she moved to Cary, NC to be closer to her daughter. Paulette always had a smile and kind word for those she met, and found pleasure in helping those in need. She approached life with a sense of humor and taught her daughter to do the same. "Keep on keeping on" she would always say.

A heartfelt thanks goes out to her care team at Transitions LifeCare, Christina Kleinert, RN at Duke Well, and Dr. Linda Harpole and her staff at Duke Signature Care. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Transitions LifeCare or the Durham Rescue Mission. Graveside service will take place at Montlawn Memorial Park, Raleigh, NC on Tuesday, January, 12, 2021 at 11am. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.montlawn.com.
