Obituary of Najat Maher

Najat H. Maher, 75, of Raleigh, NC, passed away on December 12, 2015 at Wake Medical Hospital.

Najat was born in Ain Kani, Lebanon, to Hamid and Yamna Maher on September 14, 1940. She moved to the United States with her five children in 1972 settling in Adams, MA, working for the Cedars of Lebanon Bakery. She later became owner and operator of Angelina's Sub Shop in Bennington, VT. Upon her retirement, she moved to Raleigh, NC to be close to her children, living with her daughter, Randa.

Najat is preceded in death by her parents, Hamid and Yamna, and brother Galeb.

Najat is survived by her brother Khaled Maher (wife Salwa) of Adams, MA; sister Nawal Maher (husband Nabeel) of Ain Kani, Lebanon; sister-in-law Christine Maher; daughter Tagrid Maher of Aliquippa, PA; daughter Randa Maher of Raleigh, NC; son Ayoub Maher (wife Saher) of Chicago, IL; daugher Sara Maher of Dunellen, NJ; and son Salman Maher (wife Niki) of Apex, NC; four grandchildren, Samer Maher, Sofia Maher, Maxwell Maher, and Nai Maher.

Najat was not blessed with an easy life; however, with the support of her siblings and children, she dealt with it with strength, grace, and dignity. She always had a kind word for everyone, was possessed of a generous spirit, and was steadfast in her belief of God's goodwill. She took great pride in having witnessed all her children achieve advanced degrees and each succeed in their respective careers.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Wake Medical Hospital and Capital Nethrology, and a special thanks to the fine staff of Central Raleigh Dialysis for their kind and compassionate care of their mother.

Visitation will be held at MontLawn Funeral Home in Raleigh on December 16, 2015 from 9:00 -11:00 AM. Funeral service will be held at MontLawn Funeral Home in Raleigh on December 16, 2015 from 11:00 am -12:00 pm. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park.
