Obituary of Nancy O'Neal

Nancy R. Whitehead O'Neal, 79 of Raleigh passed away Friday, August 15, 2014 at her residence, surrounded by her loving husband.

Born February 7, 1935 in Person County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Henry Regan and Lucy Bowes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert Regan and Edward "Red" Regan.

Nancy is survived by her husband, C.L. O'Neal; sons, Charlie Steven Whitehead and his wife Martha, Thomas Lee Whitehead, and Jerry Anthony "Tony" Whitehead and his wife Kathy; grandchildren, Ashley Adorian, Jeremy Whitehead, Hannah Whitehead, and Morgan Whitehead; brothers, Rassie Regan and his wife Jean, and Jimmy Regan and his wife Patricia; and many nieces and nephews.

Nancy was a beloved mother, grandmother, and WIFE. A graduate of Watts Nursing School, she was a nurse manager for 30 years at Dorothea Dix Hospital before retirement. She was a friend and mentor to many patients and staff members at the hospital. Nancy has been a devoted Christian the majority of her life and is now present with the Lord she loves. Never wavering in her faith, she had a genuine love for all people.

A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at Macedonia United Methodist Church. An inurnment will take place following the service at Whispering Waters at Montlawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 9-11:00 a.m. prior to the service in the Fellowship Hall of the Church.
