Neil McCraney entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, May 21,2019. He was born to Lionel G. McCraney and Agnes Christine McCraney on January 21, 1963 in Raleigh, North Carolina. Neil graduated from Central Wake Optimal High School. He worked at Raychem Corporation in Fuquay-Varina as a technician for several years. He also worked at Bob Barker in Fuquay-Varina as a cycle counter for over 25 years until his retirement.

Neil served his country in the United States Army infantry, 82nd Airborne, for three years. He completed basic training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma and artillery training at Fort Benning, Georgia, where he received his jump wings in 1985. In Panama, Neil completed his training in jungle warfare and was designated as a Jungle Expert. He also served in Germany and with the 325 th Infantry in Vicenza, Italy in 1986. Neil was especially proud of his military service.

Neil's lifetime companion and former wife Pearlene McCraney meant the whole world to him. The two of them together were as happy as two peas in a pod. Neil's favorite pastimes and hobbies were fishing, vacationing, walking, caring for animals (especially his pet dog Polio), music, and  talking about the Bible. Neil is survived by Pearlene McCraney of Fuquay-Varina, NC; three brothers, Mike McCraney (Michele) of Raleigh, NC, Steve McCraney (Dawn) of Morrisville, NC, Lee McCraney (Cylynn Barnes) of Raleigh, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
