Obituary of Nymphus Hopkins
Nymphus "Nick" Lee Hopkins, 74, of Raleigh, passed away Saturday afternoon, September 24, 2011 at Wake Medical Center, surrounded by family and friends.
A Funeral Service will be held 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at Montlawn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Montlawn Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8:00 p.m. Tuesday night.
Born January 2, 1937 in Martin County, NC, Nick is the son of the late Henry Lee Hopkins and Lurlene Cherry Hopkins. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Annie Fae Etheridge and Bernice Haislip.
He is survived by his loving and caring wife of 33 years, Nancy Elaine Hopkins and their children and families; Greg and Toni Hopkins (Clayton and Jamie), Bruce and Shelle Taylor (Carlie, Brandon and Kristen), Jeff and Michelle Parrish (Lauren and Nicholas), Rob and Gina Taylor, (Zachary, Linsey, Timothy, Toby and Anthony), Danny Reason and Debbie Price; sister Mary Alice Reason and honorary grandchild Taylor Leslie, among numerous other nieces and nephews.
Nick was a veteran in the United States Army, where he was an Airborne Paratrooper. Afterwards, he started a life -long career in the construction industry and working to complete his "yellow pads" of never ending TO-DO-LISTS.
Being a member of Longview Baptist Church, Nick was well known by all to leave an impressionable impact on their lives in his willingness to help them when in need. He will truly be missed and remembered by all who knew him.
