She departed this life dancing and she is surely dancing with Jesus (and Frank) now.  She was born in New Bern, NC and moved to Beaufort when she was 6.  Olive was a cheerleader at Beaufort High School and started her working career at Guthrie Jones Drug Store followed by Tidewater Power in Morehead City.  She met Frank Safrit in Morehead City and they were married on November 30, 1952 at First Baptist Church in Morehead. They moved to Raleigh in 1953 and Olive worked for Carolina Power and Light for 5 years.

Olive went to work at Rex Hospital in 1970 and retired from there in August, 1993.  She loved golf and played with her friends for many years at RGA in Raleigh and also volunteered for the Rex Classic (now Rex Open) Golf Tournament for 25 years. She also volunteered at Garner Area Ministries Thrift Shop.  Her passion was dancing and she danced many a night at Loafer's Beach Club and TJs Nightlife in Raleigh where she was surrounded by her many friends.

Olive is survived by her sister, Jean Laughton and her family, her son Jeffrey and his wife, Karen and her grandchildren Taylor and Sadie Safrit. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank Safrit and infant son, Rodney Kent Safrit.

The family would like to thank Felicia Gunter for the exceptional care she provided over the past several months in addition to her close special friends who were always available, including Judy Newton, Jackie Dail, Ann Bagwell, Donna Riggs and Denise Barker. The family is also very thankful for the support of her 1st Presbyterian church family over the years.
