Obituary of Oveda Herrington
Oveda Thomas Herrington of 2200 Old Sorrell Road, Apex, Nc died June 7, 2013 from hepatobiliary cancer, with Liberty Hospice attending.
Mrs. Herrington was born March 31, 1920 to John Lawton Thomas and Lina Lindsey Thomas. She was married to Lloyd Frednel (Fred) Herrington from 5-20-1971 to 4-11-1999 when he passed away. She was served by Liberty Hospice Service since March 2012. She was a retired bookkeeper with Johnson-Lambe Co., in Raleigh having worked for them for 20 years. She was a former resident of Atlanta, GA and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star #148 in Decatur, GA. She was also a member of Swift Creek Baptist Church in Raleigh.
Mrs. Herrington was preceded in death by her husband, parents and five brothers.
Survivors are her stepson, Lloyd F. Herrington, Jr., of Atlanta, GA; her stepdaughters, Fredda H. Arnold of Dunn and Donna (Don) Norman of Ellijay, GA; her step-grandson, who was her devoted caregiver, Harry Konrad Arnold, II of Apex; her step-granddaughter, Oveda E. Arnold of Dunn; her sisters, Doris L. Waller of Atlanta, GA and Evenelle Denmark of Jacksonville, FL; her brothers, Horace Thomas (Hazel) of Trenton, FL and Otto Thomas (Maxine) of Lake Mary, FL; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, in-laws and caring friends.
Thanks to all the Hospice Aides for their kind and supportive care and to Dr. Robert Starkenburg, Jim and Lynda Hennant, Horace and Linda Evans, Phil and Emily Johnson and their family, Dr. David Vess, pastor of Swift Creek Baptist Church and Rick Lancaster, chaplain of Liberty Hospice.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Wednesday at Montlawn Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Thursday at Montlawn Funeral Home Chapel with Rick Lancaster officiating. Interment will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park.
