Obituary of Patricia Harrell
Patricia (Patsy) W. Harrell 78, of Raleigh, passed away January 12, 2015 after a period of declining health. Patsy was born June 12, 1936; the daughter of Norman and Juanita Whaley of Teachey, NC.
Patsy is predeceased by her parents and brothers Richard and Dean Whaley. She is survived by her husband Ennis R. Harrell of Raleigh, son Chris (Karen) and daughter Kim, Bryan (Lis) Harrell, and grandchildren Hobie and Colton Sholar, Noah and Lila Harrell, brother David (Ann) all of Wilmington; also treasured life long friends, Jean Baker and Peggy Bailey as well as a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Patsy attended Wallace High School and among other honors was voted " Best All Around" and Homecoming Queen. She graduated in 1954. Her kind and generous heart led her to Rex School of Nursing in Raleigh where she graduated and became a Registered Nurse. Many aspects of the healthcare followed from plant nurse at Corning to New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington. She became a rehab nurse with International Rehabilitation Corporation in 1978. Pasty was also a PTA President, Cub Scout Leader and active in local politics.
She returned to Raleigh in 1981 opening Intracorp rehab group as the manager. In 1989 she resigned from Intracorp to use her innovative spirit which inspired her to become one of the founders of Southern Rehabilitation Network, the calling of her life. She became a very successful business woman growing the company into one of the regional leaders in the field today.
Fate stepped in and reunited her with her childhood sweetheart Ennis Ray. The love of her life, they dated, and were married. Retirement offered them time to travel and enjoy life as well as family; her happiest times and a fulfilled life. Patsy kept God in her heart, lived a Christian life and always saw the good in everyone. She was a kind and loving soul.
A true "Celebration of Life" will be held Saturday, January 17th, 12 pm at the Crabtree Marriot, casual dress is requested. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
