Patrick Luc Nixon was born on September 24, 2000 in Seattle, Washington. He was the son of Lester James and Yen Luc Nixon. In 2001 the family moved to Santa Fe NM and in 2003 to Salt Lake City where Patrick started elementary school. Patrick's love of soccer began at age 4 in the Draper Youth League.
In 2007 the family moved to Wake Forest where Patrick attended Wake Forest Magnet Elementary. He then moved to Powell Magnet Elementary in the second grade where he began his study of the violin and loved to build and collect Gundams.
Patrick attended Ligon Middle School, where he played on the soccer team. He was the concertmaster for the Ligon Orchestra in the seventh grade. He started building Lego Architecture and began a budding interest in shoes.
At William G. Enloe Magnet High School Patrick was involved in student government, the annual Enloe Charity Ball, and he lettered in soccer. He was a member of The National Honor Society and earned the International Baccalaureate Diploma in addition to his high school diploma in 2019. While in high school Patrick's interest in shoes blossomed and many Saturday's were taken up trying to get Yeezy's.
After graduating from Enloe, Patrick chose to go to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He was involved in student government and was planning a double major of Economics and Public Policy. He worked part-time at the UNC Visitors Center and loved to provide tours of the campus. In college Patrick's interest in shoes started to wane and he became interested in collecting watches. His first semester he had a 4.0 GPA and was on track to repeat for the spring semester. In perfect Patrick fashion, he calculated that he only needed a 35% on his economics final to have an A. He did not get to take those tests.
Patrick Luc Nixon is survived by his father, Lester James Nixon; his stepmother Donna Marie Nixon: brother Philip Luc Nixon of the home: half-brother Dr. James Nixon of Minneapolis MN; half-sister Allison Stanton of Minneapolis MN; half-sister Kathryn Kinder of Austin TX; and step sister Stephanie Walker and step brother Bryan Walker of the home. He leaves so many friends that he made throughout his life. One of his special groups scheduled weekly movie nights and a late breakfast visit to Waffle House. His special friend Maya Lin and her lovely family were like a second home for him.
Patrick lost his mother, Yen Luc Nixon, to cancer in 2016. At UNC he had worked with Camp Kesem, an organization that provides support at no cost to children who have lost a parent to cancer. He was that special.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Camp Kesem in Patrick's memory.
