IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Patsy
Pierce
November 19, 1942 – May 20, 2023
The world lost a saint for Jesus on May 20, 2023 – Patsy (Pat) Pierce.
Born on a tobacco farm in 1942 as the fifth of five children, she enjoyed music and learning in her early years. She graduated as valedictorian of her high school class, and embarked on a journey to UNC Chapel Hill where she completed her undergraduate degree three years later. She would later add a master's in education from North Carolina State University.
She was a woman who walked closely with Jesus and in the power of the Holy Spirit from the day of her salvation (in her 30's) until the day of her death (80). For 50 years her greatest love, her singular purpose was to tell people about Jesus and to spread his love to all she encountered.
She retired early from her profession as a college professor (in her mid 50's) so she could engage in full-time ministry. She had no savings or financial support for this endeavor; she simply trusted that God would provide. And He always did. She traveled to many nations of the world, meeting kings, queens, and presidents of countries. But it was not the famous or the elite to whom she was drawn; it was the everyday man and woman who needed to hear the good news of the forgiveness of sin and salvation that come through surrender to Jesus.
She told many who had never heard about Jesus, and she encouraged thousands to stay obedient in their walk with Him.
She served God all these years with unceasing energy, love, humbleness, and boldness. While none of us is perfect, through her the world encountered a Christian that reflected the love of God and power of the Holy Spirit in a manner that is not often found.
She is survived by her son, Kevin Pierce, and daughter-in-law, Sharon Pierce, of Garner, NC; her grandson, Connor Pierce, of Charlotte, NC; her granddaughter, Sydney Pierce, of Mint Hill, NC; and her granddaughter, Mia Pierce, of Atlantic Beach, FL.
