Paul Jones Keadle, Jr. of Apex, NC, passed away on Sunday, February 21 at the age of 85. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Eileen Palmer Keadle, for 64 years. He was a loving father, grandfather, and friend to all he met. He was the son of the late Paul Jones Keadle and Lula Mae Keadle, and grew up as the 8th of 12 children in Mitchell County, Georgia. Paul was born on November 25, 1930. He attended Hopeful Elementary School and Camilla High School. He was a proud army veteran, having served 2 years during the Korean War. He graduated from Georgia Southern University with a degree in Physical Science. He then joined IBM and served them for 29 years, taking early retirement in 1990. At that time, he and Eileen began touring the USA by car. They visited all 50 states and the provinces of Canada. They also made five overseas trips to many capitals.
Paul is survived by his wife, Eileen, his son, Paul Jones Keadle III and wife, Keila, of Raleigh, NC, his son, Michael Theodore Keadle and wife, Tammy, of Apex, NC, his grandson, Daniel and granddaughter, Ellen Ruth, both of Raleigh, NC, and his sister, Juanita Adams, of Gainesville, GA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, PJ and Lula Mae Keadle, sisters, Virginia, Dorothy, Madge, Louise, Agnes, Mildred, and Nan and brothers, Spencer, Charles, and Russell Vance. At his death, Paul had 200 nieces and nephews, spanning three generations.
A memorial service will be held at Greenwood Forest Baptist Church, 110 SE Maynard Road, Cary, NC on Wednesday, February 24 at 1:00 p.m. A private interment in the church's columbarium will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Transitions Life Care, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607, Greenwood Forest Baptist Church Memorial Fund, or to a charity of your choice.
