Paul Douglas (Doug) Motley, 76, of Knightdale passed away on Valentine's Day 2024.

Doug was born in Raleigh to the late Charles W Motley Sr. and Ruth Upchurch Motley.

He leaves behind the love of his life and wife of 54 years, Sharon Smith Motley, his brother Charles W. Motley Jr. (JoAnn), his nephew Chip, niece Tina Pearson (Scott), grandniece Ava, and sister-in-law Beth Smith (Richard Cebula).

In addition to his parents, Doug was preceded in death by his beloved younger brother William Robert Motley.

Prior to his retirement Doug owned and managed an independent insurance agency in Goldsboro for many years.

Doug had a quick wit and loved to make people laugh. He was deeply devoted to caring and providing for his wife Sharon and his brother Robert, and he had a strong affection for the many feline friends who enriched his life. Doug had many interests and hobbies throughout his life, including fishing, boating, dancing to beach music, restoring and showing vintage Corvettes, auctioneering, coin and stamp collecting, buying and selling antiques, and furniture reupholstering. He was a huge fan of classic westerns.

A celebration of Doug's life will be held in the chapel at Montlawn Funeral Home in Raleigh at 1:00 on Monday, February 26nd. A family visitation hour will begin at noon on the same day at the funeral home.
