Paul Stanley Watkins

Paul Stanley Watkins, 83, died January 17, 2009 at Duke Health Raleigh Hospital in Raleigh.

Mr. Watkins was born in Raleigh on July 25, 1925 and was the son of the late Seaton G. Watkins and Pauline Pearce. He was preceded in death by his wife of twenty-two wonderful years Virginia Lee Watkins.

"Stan" was a member of Jenkins Memorial United Methodist Church in Raleigh. He attended Campbell College and Wake Forest University. Mr. Watkins was in the insurance business for 25 years with Charlotte Liberty and Kentucky Central Company.

He enjoyed playing golf and was also very fond of listening to gospel music.

Mr. Watkins is survived by his daughter Paula Elizabeth Griffith; granddaughter Claire Dehaan; great grandsons Jack Dehaan and Samuel Hall; brother Jerry Watkins and wife Ruby; nieces Mildred Grogan Proctor and Paulette Godwin; great niece Donna Godwin; great nephews Glenn Godwin, Greg Godwin, Gary Proctor, and Wayne Proctor.

He is preceded in death by his sisters Sally Grogan, Ruth Orrell, and Lib Bone; and brothers Worth Watkins, Ed Watkins, John Watkins, and Phillip Watkins.

The family would like to give special thanks to his caregiver and friend Barbara Poole.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday (Jan 21st) at Montlawn Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m., prior to service.

Stan will be dearly missed by all his loving family and friends.
