IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Paula Laddey
Goss
May 12, 1941 – December 28, 2023
Paula Laddey Goss passed away peacefully on December 28th, 2023, at the age of 82 at her home in Raleigh.
Memorial service: Saturday January 20th 2024 at 2:30PM
Cary American Legion Hall, 8523 Chapel Hill Rd. Cary 27513
Paula was born on May 12, 1941, to Eric James Laddey, a Navy veteran of World War II, and Helen Elizabeth Temple Laddey, a cosmetologist.
She married Jerry Lindsey Goss, whom she met at boarding school, and they had a son, Timothy Darrin Goss, on June 28th, 1965. They Baptized Tim on December 26th, 1965. Paula was a devoted and loving mother who also enjoyed studying the Bible, participating in church activities, singing and listening to music, and using sign language to communicate with the students at her workplace. She had a soft spot for animals, especially her dog Daisy.
She had a strong faith in God that she shared with everyone around her. She was a member of the Celebration Christian Fellowship Church, a congregation of Grace Communion International, which her mother introduced her to as a young adult.
Paula retired from the Governor Morehead School for the Blind after 25 years of service on July 1st, 2004. She sold her home in Raleigh and moved to a luxury retirement home near her son and family. She enjoyed the company of her friends there, the activities, outings and exercise classes. She also enjoyed having her family close by and watching her youngest grandchild go to school next door.
She is now reunited with her parents, Eric James and Helen, and her husband Jerry in Heaven.
She is survived by her sisters, Lynn and Diane, her dear niece Jennifer who was like a daughter to her, her son Timothy and his wife Kimberly, her grandchildren, Jessie, Jacob and Luke, and her great-grandchildren Olivia and Savannah.
For those who truly knew Paula and Jerry, and their story, we hope you find peace in knowing both of Paula's grandsons were born either on her or her husband's birthdays. They couldn't be together, but their testament of love perseveres.
Paula and Luke May 12th Jerry and Jacob June 11th
Let's celebrate this beautiful alignment of birthdays as a special and unique blessing.
In the tapestry of life,
Where threads of fate entwine,
Two sons, a legacy,
Born on ancestral dates divine.
Their grandparents, with hearts aglow,
Intellects unique, their own flow,
Gifted love, despite life's strife,
Guiding hands shaped their life.
On birthdays shared, a cosmic dance,
Generations linked by chance,
Intellectual disabilities may define,
Yet love transcends, a sacred sign.
We celebrate these dual delights,
Inheritances of days and nights,
Our sons, a bridge across the years,
A testament to love that perseveres.
