Obituary of Peggy Stephens

Peggy Johnson Stephens, 80, of Raleigh, passed away peacefully at her home Thursday, February 23, 2012.

Funeral Service will be held at 12 Noon Saturday at Montlawn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Montlawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

A native of Chatham County, Peggy was the daughter of the late Fred and Daisy Ophelia Creech Johnson. She was retired from the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles after 25 years of service. Peggy was a charter member of Fellowship Baptist Church and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and was famous for her ten layer chocolate cakes.

Peggy is survived by her daughter, Ann S. Duncan of Raleigh; son, C. Wayne Stephens of Chadds Ford, PA; grandchildren, Chris and Bonnie Duncan of Willow Spring, Michael Duncan, Jeffrey Duncan and Catharine Ward, all of Raleigh; great grandchildren, Caroline and Carson Duncan; sister, Phyllis Allen of Waldorf, MD and her brother, Carroll F. Johnson of Kenly. Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Cecil Stephens in 2011.
