Obituary

Philip Edward Jeffreys, 78, has stopped suffering. He has beaten the brain wasting disease that robbed him of his personality and ability to control his world. The disease snuck in like a thief and he would have none of it, after five long years he has won. He has moved on to a place of peace and comfort with the Lord. I think his Heaven could possibly involve an antique car show.

Philip, my sweet Daddy, died peacefully at Longleaf Neuro-Medical Center in Wilson, NC on September 25, 2016. I would like to thank the staff at Longleaf for the excellent care they provided to my father and their kindness to my Mother.

Philip Edward Jeffreys (aka Flea) of Raleigh, NC was born in Knightdale, NC on October 28, 1937 to the late William H. Jeffreys "Willie" and Lila Myatt Jeffreys.

Philip leaves behind to cherish his memory a loving family, which includes his wife of 54 years, Judy Stephens Jeffreys, of Winterville, NC; daughter, Tracy Jeffreys Harrington: and husband , Grady Harrington, Jr., of Winterville, NC ; grandson , Parker Harrington; brother and sister-in-law Tommy and Shelby rJeffreys of Raleigh, NC; brother and sister-in-law Bob and Pat Jeffreys of Louisbug, NC; nephew Rob Jeffreys of Cary, NC and niece Jaime Jeffreys Mancini of Endicott, NY.

Phillip was a lifelong resident of Wake County. He attended Myrtle Underwood Elementary School and Hugh Morson High School. He served overseas in the United States Air Force from 1956-1959. He retired after 30 years with the United States Postal Service in 1992. He loved his community and proudly served as a Wake County Commissioner from 2002-2006.
