Phillip Anderson "Phil" Tant, 74 of Raleigh, passed away Sunday morning, September 14, 2014 at Duke Raleigh Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He is preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Shirley Tant.

Phil is survived by his ever loving devoted daughter and full time caregiver and best friend, Angie Linton and her husband Robert; a son Craig Tant and his wife Vicky; grandsons, Cameron Poole and his wife Brooke, Matthew Poole and his girlfriend Holly Jones; granddaughter Jadyn Linton; great-grandson, Camden Poole; also special granddaughters, Linnea Coon and Ashlee Coon; a brother, David Tant and his wife Betty; and several nieces and nephews.

Flowers are welcome or donations can be made in memory of Phil to Duke Raleigh Cancer Center, 3404 Wake Forest Road, Raleigh, NC 27609.

A Funeral Service will be held 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at Montlawn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park, with Military Rites. The family will receive friends, 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at Montlawn Funeral Home.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Dr. Jennifer Garst, Kelly Young, and all the nurses and staff at the Duke Raleigh Cancer Center for their care and compassion during his courageous two year battle with Lung Cancer.
