Obituary of Raeford Murphy
Raeford Kenneth Murphy, 88, died Saturday at Wake Med. He was a faithful member of Longview United Methodist Church where he served the church in many functions. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from International Paper Co. in 1987.
A funeral service will be held 11 am Wednesday at Montlawn Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Montlawn Memorial Park.
Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Sarah J. Murphy; son, R. K. (Ken) Murphy, Jr. and wife Susan of Smithfield; daughters, Lynn M. Lye and husband Gordan of Wendell and Marcie Nanney and husband Mark of Raleigh; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10-11 am Wednesday.
Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to Longview United Methodist Church, 2320 Milburnie Road, Raleigh, NC 27610.
