Obituary of Ray Black
Roy Cooper Black, 69, passed away Saturday evening, April 22, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer.
A Celebration of his Life will held at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 1, 2011 at Ephesus Presbyterian Church, 530 Peach Farm Road, Lillington, NC 27546. The family will receive friends at a luncheon following the service.
A native of Lillington, Mr. Black was a history teacher for nearly 30 years at Southview Senior High School in Fayetteville. Ray was an avid golfer and loved the outdoors, making friends wherever he went. His kindness and generosity was extended to many people over his lifetime as he always tried to help others in need.
He was a hero to two little girls who called him Daddy. Ray leaves behind his beloved daughters, Tiffany R. Brooks and her husband, Robert L. Brooks III and Tina L. Black; two grandchildren, Robert L. Brooks IV ("Lee") and Lily C. Brooks; sisters, Doris B. Woodley and Debbie Buchanan and other family, Donna and Tim Harris and family, Scott and Michelle Gunter, Shelby and Brian McConnell and Daniel Buchanan.
