Obituary of Raymond Maynard

Raymond Amos Maynard, 78, a native of and one of the first families of Cary, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2012.

Funeral Service will be held 3 p.m. Friday at Montlawn Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment will follow in the Garden Mausoleum at Montlawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 - 3 p.m. Friday.

Ray was born March 5, 1934, the son of the late Walter Troy Maynard and Edna Burgess Maynard for whom Maynard Road is named. At the age of 14, Ray began popping popcorn to earn money and went on to work with the Raleigh Police Department for 15 years. The remainder of his working career was spent in his own paving company for over 35 years.

Ray is survived by his wife, Linda Cox Maynard; sons, Daryl Kent Maynard of Raleigh, Raymond "Randy Neil Maynard of Florida; daughter, Rose Beck of Rolesville; four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
