Raymond "Ray" Saums, 87 went to be with his Heavenly Father on March 10, 2025. Also affectionally known as "Sonny" by his family. Ray was born on April 8,1937, in Halifax County. Ray moved to the Wake County area in the early 70's and owned several convenience stores in
the area called "Ray's Grocery." He was a big NASCAR fan. Adored all animals, especially his two cats, "Little Boy" and "Little Girl".

Ray is survived by his daughter, Doris Saums of Raleigh, NC, his sisters, Mable Johnson of Roanoke Rapids, NC, and Bessie Saums of Durham, NC. and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Loving companion, Judy Upchurch, of the home.

Visitation will be held Thursday March 20,2025, at Green Pines Baptist Church in Knightdale, NC at 11:00am followed by Funeral Service at 12 noon. Officiated by Pastor Jose Martinez. The burial will be at Montlawn Memorial Park in Raleigh, NC immediately following the service.

Friends and family can visit with family at the home of Jose and Anita Martinez, 4517 Rock Quarry Rd. Raleigh, NC 27610. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Judes Children Hospital or any Pet Rescue of your choice.
