Dr. Raymond Louis Smith, PhD., 60, passed away Monday, January 16, 2012.
Private services will be held at a later date.
A native of Port Townsend, WA, Ray was born October 29, 1951, the son of the late Raymond Lewis Smith and Lois Marie LaRue Smith. He was a retired professor at Appalachian State University in Boone as well as Idaho State University.
Ray is survived by his sisters, Diane LeClair (Jack) of Cary, Connie Stine of Sacramento, CA; brothers Craig Smith (Holly) of Sacramento, CA, Steve Smith of Colorado; nephews, Jack, Mike, Kevin, Cory, Cameron and Tommy; nieces, Jennifer and Tina.
Arrangements are by Montlawn Funeral Home, 2911 S. Wilmington St., Raleigh, N.C. Condolences may be made at www.montlawn.com
