Robert "Bobby" G. Stanley, 68, a resident of Raleigh, NC passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2017. Born in Elmsford, New York, Bobby was the son of the late Harold Stanley and Adeline (Harvey) Stanley of Elmsford, NY. He received his education in Elmsford and was a 1968 graduate of Alexander Hamilton High School. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force.
He married Deborah Sachau in Bennington, VT in 1984 and resided in Bennington until moving to New Hampshire in 2002 and then to Raleigh, North Carolina in 2005.
Bobby loved playing pool, cheering on the Boston Red Sox, and most of all, spending time with his family, especially his 5 granddaughters who always put a sparkle in his eye. Bobby had a warm inviting sense of humor that was paired with his infectious smile, he would do anything for his beloved family and friends, his affection and generosity was unmatched. Bobby is survived by his wife Debbie; his son Thomas Mayhew and wife Trish of Alexandria, VA; his daughter Desir (Mayhew) Shiffer and her husband Aaron of Raleigh, NC; his son Robert (Bob) Stanley Jr. and his girlfriend Sandy Bischel of Asheville, NC; his grandchildren, Stella, Millie, and Hazel Mayhew of Alexandria and Avery and Taylor Shiffer of Raleigh; his brothers Harold (Skip) Stanley and wife Rose of Brookfield, CT, Thomas (Tom) Stanly and wife Dawn of Summerville, SC, and James (Jimmy) Stanley of Ossining, NY; his sister Judy Robinson of Holmes, NY; his dear friend since childhood Ralph Repola of Myrtle Beach, SC. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Visiting hours will be held at the Montlawn Park Funeral Home, 2911 S. Wilmington St.., Raleigh on Friday, November 3 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. The funeral will be held at Garner Advent Christian Church, 1120 Vandora Springs Rd., Garner on Saturday, November 4 at 11:00 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Bobby's memory to the Autism Society of North Carolina Attn: Donations Coordinator, 505 Oberlin Road Suite 230, Raleigh, NC 27605.
