Obituary of Robert Thomas
Robert Wayne "Bob" Thomas, 70, died peacefully at his home Sunday morning, April 1, 2012 after a four month battle with cancer.
Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Montlawn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Montlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday evening.
A native of Raleigh, Bob was born on March 31, 1942, the son of the late Harold and Edith Uzzle Thomas. He graduated from Needham Broughton High School in 1960. Bob devoted twenty seven years to the U.S. Postal Service as a supervisor before retiring in 2006.
Bob will be remembered for his strong Christian faith and his love and devotion to his family and many close friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Easley Thomas and his brother, Harold Thomas, Jr.
He is survived by his three loving daughters; Robin Thomas, Mandy Mountcastle and her husband, Richard, Angie Joyner and her husband, Regi; his former spouse, Brenda Thomas; his sister, Judy White, all of Raleigh; step-son, Scott Castleberry of Garner; two grandsons, Michael and Nate McClintock; two step-grandchildren, Amber and Timothy Castleberry; three nieces, Terry Daniels, Edie Hartley and Gina Brown; his sister in law, Vickie Wall and her son Derrick and his brothers in law, Ricky, James and Steve Easley. In addition to family, Bob had many very special friends who he deeply cherished and who touched his life.
Bob's family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to the many dear friends who have shown their loving care and support to Bob and his family throughout his illness. Your visits and continued prayers have been a priceless blessing to us all.
