Obituary of Robert Wood

Robert "Bobby" Russell Wood, 74, of Emerald Isle, NC passed peacefully on January 20, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Charlottesville, VA to the late Robert E. and Ada J. Wood.

A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 26, 2012 at Montlawn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park with Military Graveside Honors. Masonic Rites will be performed by Raleigh Lodge #500 A.F. & A.M.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10-10:45 a.m. Thursday, prior to the service.

Bobby was a lifelong member of the Raleigh Masonic 500 Temple. After college graduation and serving his country in the Army National Guard he worked until his retirement for the NCDOT. Retirement from the state brought his transformation to "Flappy" the clown followed by his true passion, membership to the Core Sound Decoy Carvers Guild.

He is survived by his wife Diane Hulse Wood; sons, Michael R. Wood and wife Tammy of Wilmington, and Drew Hulse of Raleigh; daughters, Cindy Jones of Burgaw, Sherrie Vaughn and husband Mark of Rocky Point; and granddaughter Kellie Jones of Wilson. Bobby never met a stranger and in addition to his family leaves a host of friends that loved and will miss him.

In Lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made in Bobby's memory to a charity of their choice.
