Roger Dale Lentz age 88, of Raleigh, devoted Christian, Husband, Father and Grandpa passed away peacefully on November 6, 2023. Roger was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on July 11, 1935, the son of Robert and Helen Lentz. Roger, and wife Nancy moved to North Carolina in 1959 and raised their four children in Raleigh.

Roger was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Nancy, his parents and siblings Bill, Jack and Faye.  He is survived by his son Jimmy and daughters Trisha Blaylock (Skip), Helen Whitley (Richard), and Anne Hopp (James).  Beloved Grandpa of ten grandchildren, Shannon Crocker (Jason), Chris Lentz (Megan), Steven Whitley (Lorena), Kayla Whitley (Keith), Jarrett Blaylock (Rebekah), Bryce Hopp, Olivia Clarke (Kadison), Camille Whitley, Ethan Hopp and Mary Hopp. Great Grandpa to four, Holden Crocker, Nora Crocker, Levi Lentz, and Harper Whitley and was excited to add to that number in February with Baby Boy Clarke.

Early in his life he was a member of the Air Force and would proudly tell about his travels to Japan. All that knew Roger, will reminisce of the stories he told, be it the love of airplanes, all facts about the air traffic control towers, bike rides around Raleigh or the price of gas in 1945! He retired from the FAA after a long career in 1990.

Services will be held at Montlawn Funeral Home in Raleigh on Friday, November 17th , with visitation beginning at 10am and funeral and burial immediately after at 11am.
