Ruth Furmage Wadford went to be with the Lord on April 18, 2018, at the age of 84. She was at her home in Raleigh, NC, after a brief illness at the time of her passing. Ruth is survived by herhusband , Dwight H. Wadford. The two celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary April 10, 2018. She also leaves behind a daughter, Karen Earnhardt and her husband Robert S. Earnhardt, Wake Forest, NC and 2 sons, Dwight Wadford, Jr of Wake Forest, NC and Bob Wadford of the home, along with her brother John Furmage of Hickory, NC. Ruth has loved and nurtured 3 Granddaughters, 2 Great Granddaughters and 1 Great Grandson.
Ruth is preceded in death by her Mother, Father, Brother and 2 sisters
She was born 8-30-1933 in Red Springs, NC to Robert and Blanche M. Furmage.
She studied nursing at Robeson County Memorial Hospital School of nursing and graduated
as an RN in 1954. April 10th, 1955 Ruth married Dwight H. Wadford in Parkton, NC.
She moved to Raleigh with her husband and began working for Rex Hospital as an RN
Their first child was born in September 1956, and the 2 boys were soon to follow.
Ruth dedicated herself to God and family and stayed home to raise their children.
She was an accomplished Mother, Nurse, and Homemaker and enjoyed having a garden and Freezing and canning the vegetables they raised.
She was a member of Midway Baptist Church and enjoyed her volunteer time in the church Nursery.
A funeral is scheduled for April 22, 2018. Visitation will be held at 1:00 PM with service planned for 2:00 PM. Dr. Gene Schuyler will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate
