Obituary of Sallie Barnes

Miss Sallie Barnes, 84, of Raleigh, died Sunday, June 20, 2010 at Rex Healthcare.

Cryptside Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the Lakeview Mausoleum at Montlawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at Montlawn Funeral Home one hour prior to the service.

A native of Wilson County, Sallie was born November 7, 1925, the daughter of the late John and Nancy Hinnant Barnes. She received her degree as a Registered Nurse from the Rex Hospital School of Nursing and worked at Rex Hospital as well as several Doctor's offices before training at Duke Hospital to become a Registered Physical Therapist. She retired in this capacity from the State of North Carolina after 20 years of service.

Sallie is survived by her sister, Joretta Deans of Palmetto, FL; brothers, Kenneth Barnes of Virginia, Ernest Barnes of Maryland; cousin, Archie Copeland of Chapel Hill as well as several nieces and nephews.
