RALEIGH

Sallie Faye Batts, 81 went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 5, 2021 after an extended illness. She was born in Edgecombe County, NC on December 12, 1939 to William Linwood Coker and Ida Tolson Coker. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Jean Smith and Ramona Alford; brothers Bennett and W.L. (Mose). She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Howard Batts of Raleigh, NC, a daughter Alice Batts of Raleigh, NC, a son Howard Jr. (Bud) and his wife Susan; two grandsons, Noah Batts and Ethan Batts of Raleigh, NC; and also many nieces and nephews.

Faye graduated from West Edgecombe High School, class of 1958. She and Howard married in 1958 while Howard was in the U.S.Navy. In 1965 Howard's new career brought them to Raleigh, NC. Faye then worked for Rex Hospital for 20 years as an Pharmacy Technician.

Faye was a faithful member at Westover United Methodist Church until illness kept her homebound. Faye was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who adored and spoiled her grandsons.

The family will receive friends Saturday December 11, 2021 from 12:00-1:00pm with a graveside funeral service at 1:00pm at Montlawn Funeral Home 2911 S Wilmington St Raleigh,NC.
