Obituary of Samuel Jones

Samuel "Sam" Ramsey Jones, 91, of Selma, NC passed away April 16, 2014 with his loving wife by his side. He was born on September 19, 1922 in Raleigh, NC to Samuel and Inez (Goodwin) Jones.

A Graveside Service will be held 3:00 p.m., Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Montlawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends 2-3:00 p.m., at Montlawn Funeral Home prior to the service.

Sam was a WWII veteran and after 63 years he received his Purple Heart award on March 13, 2008.

Sam was preceded in death by a son, John Ramsey Jones. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Mildred Jones; son, Larry Parrish (Sharon) of Castle Hayne, NC; daughters, Kathy Driscoll (Tim) of Cary, NC, Carolyn Ozbolt (Joe) of Lexington, SC, Debra Rose (Vic) of Wilmington, NC, Donna Eatmon (Garry) of Selma, NC. He leaves behind 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchidren. He is also survived by his step-daughters, Linda Matthews and Lynette Blakeslee; and 2 special nieces, Betty Poole and Joy Hanson, and one Nephew, Bill Harris. He leaves behind his faithful companion "LuLu" as well.
