Obituary of Seth Woodall
Seth Thomas "Tom" Woodall, 90, of 908 Forest Drive, Garner, died Tuesday evening, September 1, 2009.
Funeral Service will be 3 p.m. Friday in Montlawn Funeral Home chapel. Burial will follow in Montlawn Memorial Park.
A native of Johnston County, Tom was born February 21, 1919 to the late Seth A. and Alice Lambert Woodall. Tom enlisted in the United States Army on April 10, 1941 and served until December 26, 1945 where he saw combat in the Philippines and Okinawa, Japan. After his discharge, he married Magdalene Hall in January, 1947 who was his wife of 60 years until her death on June 7, 2007.
Tom was a retired brick mason and was an active member of Highland Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his sister, Lizzie Byrd; brothers, Seba, Clayborn, Magrett Dan, Novak and Cecil Woodall and his niece, Joy Smith.
Tom is survived by his sons, John T. "Johnny" Woodall of Garner and Seth Douglas Woodall of Asheville; grandchildren, Emily Woodall of Nashville, TN and Clark Woodall of Asheville; sister, Jennie Bumpass of Durham; brother, Charles Woodall of Fayetteville; special nephew, C.T. "Pete" Byrd; special nieces, Janet Johnson and Diane Benson and his sister in-law, Inez Woodall.
The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
