Sherwood McLamb of Clayton went home to be with his Lord on January 20, 2019. He is preceded in death by his father Herman McLamb; his mother Beaulah Williford; his brother Carroll McLamb; and his first wife Dorothy Driver. He is survived by his beautiful wife Karon Ellis; his son Steve Tant and wife Rose of Raleigh; his son Tony Tant and wife Donna H. of Garner; his son Aubrey Tant and wife Donna (Doobie) of Garner; his daughter Joanie Reed and husband John of Raleigh; 6 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.

Sherwood grew up in Meadow and attended school in that area. For the majority of Sherwood's life he drove an 18 wheeler until the year 2000. After that, he and his sons started MTM Transportation. After retirement, he found himself longing for something to occupy his time and decided to work for Eastern Courier. The greatest enjoyment during his workday was meeting and greeting new people.

He was an outstanding family man and loyal friend who always put others before himself. He was a gentleman who would always lend a helping hand to a stranger in need. And most importantly, he was a generous, courageous soul who never gave up and always persevered.
