Obituary of Shirley Watkins

Shirley Watkins, 77, of Cary, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 16, 2013. She was surrounded by her devoted husband, two sweet daughters, four loving grandchildren and her great grandson.

Funeral Service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday in Montlawn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Montlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Shirley was a homemaker and a loving, caring wife and mother. She brought laughter and joy to all who knew her. She had a creative mind, loved to sew for her family and for the American Legion Post #67. She also loved to do flower arrangements for her church. Shirley loved spending time with her family more than anything, whether it was at family dinners, camping trips to Atlantic Beach and White Lake or watching game shows on TV.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Charles Watkins; daughters, Kay McConnell and husband Carl, Barbara Poole and husband Mac; four grandchildren, Mandy Branch and husband Daniel, Ashley McConnell, Thomas Poole and John Poole; great grandson Jonathan McConnell; sister, Margaret Spiess, two nieces, four great nieces and nephews and many special family and friends.
