Stephen Arnold Bernadyn, 73, passed away peacefully January 21, 2017 after a long illness. Stephen was born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey on February 5th, 1943 to Stephen and Madeline Bernadyn.
Steve graduated from the University of Maryland and was employed with Becton Dickenson for over 25 years prior to his retirement. A decorated Vietnam veteran, Steve received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star for heroism in battle.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents and beloved cousin, Stephen Gozora.
Steve is survived by his wife, Paula (Swartz) Bernadyn of Raleigh; his daughter Lauren Bernadyn of Raleigh; his daughter Kristi West (and son in law, Nathan) of Wake Forest; Grandchildren Tyler and Ava West of Wake Forest; his sisters Patricia Jones and Kathy Morin, both of Hagerstown, Maryland and many nieces and nephews.
The family will hold a visitation on Friday, January 27, 2017 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Montlawn Funeral Home 2911 S Wilmington Street, Raleigh. Following will be a graveside service at Montlawn Memorial Park at 11 am.
