He joined the Navy in 1956 and served with Fighter Squadron Thirteen, based at Cecil Field Naval Air Station in Florida. Stuart married Kaye in February, 1962. He was honorably discharged a month later and they relocated to Raleigh, where he worked with Bolton Corporation as an HVAC foreman for nearly 40 years before retiring in November 1999.

He was a beloved and dedicated "Pa" to his grandchildren, loved spending time with them and attended every basketball, baseball and soccer game to show his support. He was also an avid fisherman and especially enjoyed surf fishing at Atlantic Beach with Kaye, his beloved wife of 51 years.

Stuart will be remembered always as a loving husband to his wife, a father devoted to his two children and the greatest "Pa" ever to his three grandchildren.
