Obituary of Sue Denny
Sue Lane Denny, 88, of Raleigh, passed away Saturday evening, December 7, 2013 at her home, surrounded by her family.
Born May 19, 1925, in Pinnacle, NC, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Curtis Lane and Susie Pratt Lane. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by infant brother, Omni Lane, her brothers, Carl Lane, James Lane, and Paul Lane; and sister, Ocie Lane Cox.
Sue worked two years with the United States Signal Corp. in New Jersey during WWII. She was a wonderful cook and entertainer. Despite her short stature, she was a wiz at playing basketball.
Sue is survived by her loving husband of 70 wonderful years, Weldon Denny; son, Rick Denny and his wife Judy; grandchildren, Jamie Swanay, David Swanay, and Christy Swanay; great grandchild, Kayden Faith Thomasson; god-children, Matthew and Justin Yang; and special niece, Jean Denny.
A Funeral Service will be held 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Forest Hills Baptist Church, 201 Dixie Trail, Raleigh, NC 27607. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 10-11:30 a.m., prior to the service.
