Sylvester Jones, 84, passed away Saturday, July 22, 2017. He was born July 6, 1933 in Waynesboro, GA son of the late Walter and Viola Dukes Jones. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Neely Williams and an aunt, Annabelle Simmons.

Mr. Jones was an Army veteran having served in Germany during the Korean War from 1950 until 1953. He worked at the VA Hospital in Boston, MA for 19 years, retired from Filene's Department Store in Boston, MA after 33 years of service as supervisor of housekeeping. He then also retired from the Federal Reserve Bank as supervisor of housekeeping. Mr. Jones was also a Freemason.

He leaves his wife of 60 years, Marian E. Jones, a brother, Thomas Moore, his children and their spouses, Roland Jones, Alonzo Jones, Andre Jones and wife Yvonne, Anita Thomas and husband Roger and Lesia Hamm. Grandchildren, Andre Jones, Jr., Samantha Jones, Janay Rodden and husband William, Ariana Thomas, Jamaal Thomas, Nicole Hamm, Quincy Jones, Ashlei Jones, and great grandchild, Sophia Rodden.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 28th in the Montlawn Funeral Home chapel with Norman Peart officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Montlawn Memorial Park.
