Ted B
Silver
September 23, 1923 – April 17, 2026
Ted Baccus Silver, 102, passed away peacefully on April 17th, in Garner, North Carolina.
Born on September 23, 1923, in Bandana, North Carolina to Fred Silver and Edna Jarrett Silver. Ted lived a long and accomplished life marked by his hard work, his generosity, his commitment, and his compassion for his family, his friends, and for the town of Garner.
He served in the Merchant Marines and the Navy as a diesel engineer. He continued in his career as a diesel engineer until he ultimately retired as a district manager from Exxon Mobil.
A dedicated member of his community, Ted was the Charter President of the Garner Civitan Club and devoted continuous efforts to supporting many charities. His contributions reflected his belief in helping others and giving back where it mattered most.
Outside of his career and his work in the community, Ted had many friends and many interests. He enjoyed the game of golf, creating his wood shop, spending time in the mountains where he was raised, visiting with family, bee keeping, and winning card games—including poker, bridge and blackjack. For over 30 years, he played in a weekly poker club, building lasting friendships that he cherished along his journey.
Ted was known for his likable and outgoing nature, his ability to connect with anyone, and his sharp mind for business and mathematics.
Ted was preceded in death by his wife, Delores Silver, and two of his daughters: Marlinda Silver and Cathay Silver. He is survived by his children: Ken Silver and wife Kay, Daryl Silver and wife Wendy, and Sherry Silver. His grandchildren: Aaron Silver, Shelly Silver, Hunter Campbell, Kelly Brown and husband Joel, Kathryn Silver, and Dakota Guthrie. Two great grandchildren: Aurora Lim and Cohen Brown.
Ted Baccus Silver will be remembered for his lifelong dedication and contributions to his community, his big heart, and the lasting legacy he leaves behind. Ted will be greatly missed, but we find peace in knowing he is reunited with Jesus Christ and with all those gone before him.
