Obituary of Terry Nobles

Terrence "Terry" Eugene Nobles, 79, of Cary, passed away Saturday evening, March 3, 2012.

A Funeral Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 9, 2012 at Greystone Baptist Church with the Rev. Sean Allen and Rev. Lalon Barnes officiating, 7509 Lead Mine Road, Raleigh NC 27615. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday, March 8, 2012.

Born November 12, 1932 in Pitt County, NC, Terry was the son of the late Clifton Nobles and Lossie Bell Nobles Whitehurst and step-father, Claude Whitehurst. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Dorothy Elaine Nobles, and brother, James Nobles.

Terry is survived by his sons, Terry Nobles, Jr. and wife Kathy of Raleigh, Gary Nobles and wife Jill of Raleigh, and Mike Nobles and wife Louise of Cary; grandchildren, Trey, Brad, Daniel, Claire, Brian, and Tom Nobles; a dear friend, Mildred Watkins of Raleigh; sisters-in-law, Jenny Nobles of Chatham, VA, Betty Lou Brock of Winterville, Shirley Barnhill and husband Virgil of Greenville, Patsy Nichols of Greenville, and Frances Tyndall of Burlington; brothers-in-law, James Tyndall and wife Debbie of Winterville, and Ronnie Tyndall and wife Laura of Wilmington; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Terry began his career in the insurance business and founded Nobles Insurance Agency over 40 years ago and ended his career as an agent with Nationwide Insurance. Terry was a huge sports fan and a season ticket holder for NC State Basketball and The Durham Bulls. He was also inducted into the Cary High School Sports Hall of Fame in 2001 for his 30+ years of fundraising service for the Cary IMP Club. Terry was a huge people person who never met a stranger.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in memory of Terry to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 401 Harrison Oaks Blvd, Ste 200, Cary, NC 27513 OR the Cary IMP Club, 638 Walnut Street, Cary, NC 27511.
