Timothy Dale Drye died unexpectedly at the Drye Dock on October 10, 2018 in Surfside Beach, SC at the age of 62. Tim is survived by his wife Lynda Morphis Drye of Clayton, daughter, Brittany Michelle Drye of Clayton, grandson, Benton Wayne Cox of Clayton and sister in law Pat Mohorn of Morganton, NC. He is preceded in death by his parents Homer Lee and Ethel Lewis Drye and brother Jim Mohorn. Tim was born on January 12, 1956 in Raleigh to Homer Lee (Briarhopper) and Ethel Lewis Drye.
Timothy graduated from Garner Senior High School in 1974. He started his career with the Raleigh Police Department in January of 1977 and retired in July of 2004. Tim had the great fortune of living out his childhood dream of being a motorcycle officer in addition to be a "big city detective". After his retirement, Tim spent most of his time at The Drye Dock in Surfside Beach, where he enjoyed people watching. He and Lynda purchased at mountain home in Bluefield, WV in December of 2016, which he named Rocky Top so that they could enjoy the mountains in the town where Lynda had lived as teenager.
Tim was from a talented musical family and knew most everything about classic country music and almost nothing about current country music. His other great interest was Harley Davidson motorcycles which was a love that started at age 4. Tim's personality was larger than life and he will be greatly missed by his family, brothers in blue and his many friends.
