Vernon Allen Bergstedt, 68, of Sanford went home to be with the Lord, Sunday September 1, 2019. Vernon was born February 20, 1951 in Devil's Lake North Dakota to the late Vernon Addison Bergstedt and the late Thea Margaret Bergstedt Woods. Vernon  had twenty years of distinguished military service in the United States Air Force and twenty years of Civil Service at Pope Air Force Base. Vernon is survived by his wife of 25 years Yong Sook Bergstedt, step daughter Eun Mi Ko Wu (Hwa Yi) and granddaughters Maxima and Angelimes Wu. He is also survived by 5 siblings:  Mark Bergstedt of Raleigh NC,  Kevin Bergstedt (Donna) of Wake Forest NC, Robert Bergstedt (Vickie) of Winterville NC, Lisa Andersen (Rick) of Petaluma CA, DeAnn Tuell (Russell) of Fuquay Varuna NC as well as 12 nieces and nephews. A celebration of Vernon's life will be held on Saturday the 7th of September at 2:00 pm at Montlawn Funeral Home and  Memorial Park 2911 South Wilmington Street, Raleigh NC with inurnment to follow. The family will receive visitors at 1:00 prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to NC Packing 4 Patriots.
