Obituary of Vernon Dudley

Vernon D. Dudley, SSgt., USAF (Retired) of Cary, died Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at his home.

Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Montlawn Funeral Home Chapel. Interment with full military honors will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday after the service.

A native of Middlesex, Vernon was born August 17, 1926, son of the late Joseph and Goldie Rittenbery Dudley. He was a retired Staff Sergeant serving in the United States Air Force with over 20 years of service at various duty stations all over the world. SSgt. Dudley was also afforded the high honor of serving on the funeral ceremonies detail at Arlington National Cemetery. He worked with Capital Electronics following his military career and was a member of Macedonia United Methodist Church.

Vernon is survived by his wife, Helen Campbell Dudley; daughter, Barbara Coates Wrenn and her husband, Donnie of Cary; grandchildren, Crystal Holladay and her husband, Justin, Lindsay Wrenn and Hannah Wrenn; great grandchildren, Caroline and Campbell Holladay and his sister, Junnie Jordan of Garner.
