Obituary of Violet Jones

Violet "Susie" Jones, 85, passed away peacefully December 23, 2015 at Transitions Hospice Care. Violet was proud that she cared for her invalid mother after her father's death from the time she was seven years old until 1950. She cherished their home in Willow Springs, N.C. and enjoyed telling stories about growing up there. She married in 1949, but in 1968 her husband passed away suddenly. She raised their five sons that were one month, 5, 11, 14, and 16 years old at the time of his death. She stressed education and her sons all graduated from college. She held us all together.

She was preceded in death by her father; William Troy Overby, mother; Cozy Roland Overby, and husband of 19 years, Frederick Samuel Jones.

She is survived by her sons (and their wives), Fred (Angela), John (Lori), Rusty (Nancy), Scott, and Mark and eight grandchildren.

A celebration of her life will be held 2 PM Sunday at Montlawn Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday immediately following the service.
