Obituary of Virginia Coker

Virginia "Dare" Coker, 77, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, November 3, 2013. Her four children were by her side as she peacefully closed her eyes and went to sleep.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years Otho "Graham" Coker; daughter, Deborah Lynn Coker; father, Johnnie Otis Cooke; mother, Minnie Lee Cooke and brother, J.W. Cooke.

She is survived by her children, Steven Graham Coker and wife Elaine of Selma, Cheryl Gill and husband David of Raleigh, Richard "Ricky" Coker and wife Donna of Clayton and Vickie Dare Coker of Wake Forest; five grandchildren, Rebecca Megan Coker, Justin Lee Coker, David "Dave" Gill, Steven "Craig" Coker and Amanda Lynn Coker, sister, Shelby Rogister of Bethel; brother, Wayne Cooke of Rocky Mount.

She was a dedicated member of Longview Baptist Church. She served in the church nursery for almost 50 years and loved singing in the church choir. She enjoyed bowling and traveling.

Funeral services will be held 2 pm Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013 at Montlawn Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4-6 pm on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013.
