Obituary of Walter Jones
Walter Lamar "Casey" Jones died on February 12, 2012 at Windsor Point in Fuquay-Varina. He was born October 13, 1921 in Cleveland County, NC to Forest Cofield Jones and Lillah Crawley Jones. A World War II Army veteran he served in the 743rd Railroad Operators Battalion in Belgium and Germany. He worked for Seaboard Coastline Railroad, now CSX, for over 40 years. Walter was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and was an avid reader and gardener who also enjoyed taking his son to NASCAR races. He was a member of Forest Hills Baptist Church for 60 years.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Marjorie Crumpton Jones of Fuquay-Varina; son Mark Forest Jones of Fuquay-Varina; daughter, Cathryn Jones Brindle and husband Jim of Rock Hill, SC; granddaughters, Anne Michelle Pleasants of Wendell and Heather Pleasants of Knightdale; 2 great-grandchildren; brother, Forest H. "Woody" Jones of Alabama.
He was preceded in death by a son, Edwin Bayard Pleasants.
Funeral services will be held 2 pm Thursday at Montlawn Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at the Chapel of Memories Mausoleum at Montlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1-2 pm Thursday prior to the service.
