William Steven Steve Burgess

Mr. William Steven Steve Burgess, 53, of Raleigh, died May 12, 2008.

A native of Wake County, Steve was born June 26, 1954 to the late Frank and Peggy Norman Burgess. Peggy later married Harold Myatt, who lovingly helped her raise Steve. Steve was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all who knew him. He was a member of the Raleigh Fire Department for more than 17 years, and retired as Captain. He was a generous and caring man who would give any of his friends and family anything they needed. He was a great chef, avid sportsman and loved spending time at Morehead City.

Steve is survived by his life long love Harriet Shepard Burgess, of Fuquay Varina; a son William Billy Steven Burgess, and wife Julie, of Raleigh; grandson Noah Edwin Burgess; brother Al Burgess; sisters Terri Myatt Naylor, Lisa Myatt Bennett, and Beverly Burgess Adams; step mother Margie Burgess; uncle Pete Burgess; Aunt and Uncle Jeanette and Bill Rawls; Elizabeth and Tim Shepard.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 15, 2008 at 11:00 a.m., at the Montlawn Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
