William "Bill" Butler Bryan, 73, passed away on Monday, February 22, 2021 at WakeMed Cary Hospital.

Bill was born on June 30, 1947 in Windsor, NC to the late Robert Preston Bryan and Elizabeth "Peggy" Scott Bryan. Bill graduated from Garner High School before attending North Carolina State University. He lived in Seattle for many years prior to returning to North Carolina.

Bill had a deep love for God, the outdoors, hiking, and the national parks. He was also a gifted photographer and writer.  A photograph he captured of Mt. Rainier with three lenticular clouds above it was published in numerous books and displayed in The Smithsonian.

Bill was predeceased by his brother, Douglas Scott Bryan; and sister, Cynthia Bryan Davis.

He is survived by his son, Matthew Bryan of Seattle, WA; sister, Elizabeth Lewter (Jimmy) of Apex; brother, Robert Bryan , Jr. (Anita) of Raleigh; and numerous beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.

The family would like to thank Lousia at Phoenix Assisted Living in Cary for her compassion and care.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Bill's name to the charity of your choice.
