Obituary of William Cofield

William Henry "Blackie" Cofield, 83, passed away April 22, 2013 at Rex Hospital. He was born September 4, 1929 in Johnston County the son of the late Joseph Oscar Cofield and Louvenia Ball Cofield. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Dot Deaton, Clarice Brackett and Peggy Fann.

Blackie was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and became an electrical contractor. He was a partner in the House of Lights and after his retirement he enjoyed playing golf and watching the Atlanta Braves baseball.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lou L. Cofield; daughter, Cecilia C. Upchurch and husband Bryan of Raleigh; granddaughter, Marlu C. Bolton and husband Greg of Morehead City, NC and numerous cousins.

The family will receive friends from 10:30 - 11:00 am Thursday, April 25, 2013 followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 8304 Leesville Road, Raleigh, NC with Dr. Wayne Hager officiating.

The family would like to offer special thanks to Dr. Robin Koeleveld and the Palliative Care Doctors Yeager and Kahn.
