Obituary of William Coppedge
William "Bill" Randolph Coppedge, 83 of Garner passed away peacefully Wednesday afternoon, March 11, 2015 at Rex Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Johnston County, NC, he was the son of the late Haywood Coppedge and Pauline Dodd Boyette. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother J.T. Coppedge. Bill was a Sales Representative at Optical Radiation Corporation in CA, where he retired with over 20 years of service. When he was younger, he played Basketball at Cathedral Latin High School in Raleigh. Bill worked for Southern Bell Telephone for over 15 years and was one of the best fast pitch softball players in the area. He won Two City Championships while playing for the Southern Bell Team. He was an avid golfer, loved dancing at Carolina Beach and spending time at Garner Country Club where he has been a member for 15 years. The end of Bill's life was symbolic of the way he lived his life - with dignity and style.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 62 wonderful years, Mary Jane Coppedge; a son, Randy Coppedge and his wife Carolyn.
The family will receive friends 11-1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Montlawn Funeral Home.
At Bill's request, there will be a Private Family Graveside Service at Montlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Bill to SPCA of Wake County, 200 Petfinder Lane, Raleigh, NC 27603.
